Sudden Death at Nashua.
William Waite, one of the oldest and most highly esteemed citizens of Nashua, died on Monday last week, without any premonition of danger and wholly without warning. He had been down town on an errand, returned home about ten o’clock in the forenoon, sat down in a chair and expired without a sign that death was near him. His daughter saw him sitting there, noticed that he put his handkerchief to his face and asked him if he was sick. To this he made no reply and his head dropped back, alarmed her. His spirit had gone when she reached him.
He was born in New York in 1831; had lived in Iowa forty-seven years, twenty-eight of which were spent in Nashua. He will be remembered by some as the father of Mr. Waite of the old Calmar bank.

A Correction.
Calmar Courier:--Bro. Bailey in mentioning the death of the late Wm. Waite of Nashua, states: “He will be remembered by some as the father of Mr. Waite of the old Calmar Bank.” You are not quite correct in this Brother Bailey. The Wm. Waite recently deceased was the same Wm. Waite of Waite & Co., bankers, and his death was probably hurried by his late financial difficulties. His integrity was above reproach. With his private funds he made good the deficits in the bank funds and it took nearly all of his goodly supply of worldly goods to pay up the creditors.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he is buried in Greenwood Cemetery and that was born April 25, 1831 and died February 5, 1905.
