OBITUARY,
Mary M. Lowney, daughter of Jacob and Abia Lowney, was born Sept. 28, 1820, at North Egremont, Mass., and there her girlhood days were spent. At the age of 14 years she united with the Baptist church of her native town. At the time of her death she was a member of the First .Congregational church of Cresco which she loved very much.
On Nov. 9th, 1845, she was married to Parker Johnson, of Hilsdale, Columbia county, N. Y., and soon afterward came west with her husband to Wisconsin while that state was a territory, and where twenty-three years of their married life were spent In the fall of 1800 they moved to Bradford, Iowa, where Mr. Johnson died July 23, 1877. Since that period the deceased has spent much of her time with her daughter, Mrs. B. P. Norton, at whose home she passed to the better world. She was the last of her family, the rest having preceded her to the home above. Of seven children born to them four are still living—Estella A. Norton of this city, Arthur Johnson of Bradford. Ida J. Johnson and Julia A. Johnson of Pasadena, Cal.
The funeral services were held at the residence of B P. Norton and were conducted by Rev. H. J. Hinman. The remains were taken to Nashua for interment. The sympathy of the whole community goes out to Mrs. Norton in her great bereavement.
