OBITUARY

Died at her home in Elma, March 19, 1899, Mamie Sullivan, aged 22 years. Deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Pat Sullivan. She was born and raised in Howard county. Her childhood days were spent on a farm. She attended the rural school until about her sixteenth year when she went to Dubuque to attend school at the Academy of the Visitation where she graduated in '92. She was a young lady of fine character and amiable disposition which endeared her to a host of friends who now mourn the untimely death of so genial a friend and so loving a companion. We will miss her, her companions will miss her but most of all the dear ones at home will miss her. For the sorrowing parents and sister we feel most deeply, theirs "is a grief the depth of which another may never know "

May the beneficient influence of her sweet pure life servo as a beacon light to guide us all to a haven of eternal rest. The funeral took place Tuesday morning from the home to the Catholic church where a requiem mass was celebrated by Rev. Father Gume after which all that was mortal of our dear departed was borne to tho cemetery and tenderly laid to rest. The pallbearers who wore cousins of the deceased were James Roche, Charles Sullivan, Ed Burke, Ed Devereaux, Pat and Ambrose Murphy.
