OBITUARY

Our people were terribly shocked 1ast Monday afternoon when word came that Leslie M. Young, who lived about five miles northwest of Ionia and near Bassett, had died that afternoon, very suddenly, at about the hour of one o'clock. His sickness was of short duration. He was confined to the bed only a very few days. The cause of death was inflammation and obstruction of the bowels, which proved to be very stubborn. Last Sunday afternoon a consultation was held by Drs. Rawlins and Gardner, and it was decided that all had been done for the sufferer that possibly could be done without a surgical operation, but it was decided to await further developments for the next twenty-four hours. Before that time had elapsed the sufferer was free from all pain, having, passed over the dark river of death.

Leslie M. Young was born near Ionia, January 2, 1874, and was the youngest son of our townsman, L. J. Young. He has lived near here all his life. He was well and favorably known to our people. He was married to Miss Myrtle Almeda Lighthall of Bassett, on Thanksgiving Day, 1895. They had three small daughters. He also has five brothers surviving him. The sympathy of our people are for the afflicted family.

The many friends of L. J. Young, who is so well and favorably known here, will deeply sympathize with him in this severe affliction. — Eds.
