Obituary of Mrs. G. D. Warren.
We publish below a short sketch of the life of Mrs. Warren, the data for which came to hand too late for insertion in last weeks GAZETTE:
Miss Henrietta Farr was born in Oswego, New York, June 17, 1852, and came west with her parents in the early sixties and settled at Clermont, Fayette county, Iowa. Afterwards she removed to Chickasaw County where in 1867 she married G.D. Warren, who died in October, 1888. One daughter was born to them who passed on before a few months ago. One brother living at Cresco and a sister on the Pacific coast remain to mourn her loss.
Mrs. Warren's death on Monday evening, Feb. 13, was a great shock to the village of Bassett, as her nearest neighbors scarcely knew that she was sick until it was announced that she was dead. Bright's disease had seized upon her and so completely undermined her health that when she was compelled to take to her bed it was but a few hours till death came to her relief. The funeral was held from the Congregational church in Bassett Wednesday, Feb. 15, Rev. O. L. McCleery conducting the service. The remains were taken to Rowley Hill Cemetery and laid to rest beside those of her husband and daughter.
