Below will be found the obituary of Rev Solomon Reep who formerly lived in this county and will be remembered by old residents.
Rev. Solomon Reep was born the 3rd day of March 1829, in Butler county, Pa. and died May 8, 1901 at his residence in Woodson county, Kansas, aged 72 years, 2 months and 5 days. In 1830 he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Romback, the union of which was blessed with six sons and three daughters, the oldest daughter having preceded him to the spirit world. In 1856 he moved with his wife and three sons to Chickasaw county, Iowa, where ho lived for a term of 15 years. At the conference session of the Iowa Conference of the Evangelical Association, in 1871, he received license to preach the gospel in the capacity of a local deacon, in which office he faithfully performed the duties pertaining thereto. In the year 1893 he moved to Woodson county, Kansas, where with ardor and zeal he preached the glorious gospel of Christ. He leaves a bereaved wife, six sons and two daughters with a large concourse of friends and neighborS his oldest son is a much respected minister in the Iowa Conference. His loss is keenly felt in the social circle as well as in the church where ho worshipped. Peace to his ashes and rest evermore.
The funeral was one of the largest over hold in the county, which attests to the high esteem in which he was held by his friends, neighbors and acquaintances He was a grand and noble man and the good he did while here will live for years to come.
