With the exception of four years in Minnesota and a year in Illinois he had been a citizen of this county from 1854 till the time of him death. In 1887 his wife died and in 1891 he was married again to Harriett Mitchell, a sister of his first wife, who survives him. He has no children living.

David Tingley was well known by the older generation of this county. He was a successful farmer and during him lifetime accumulated a considerable amount of property. He was an upright, honest man, loved by his friends and respected by all. During the last year or two of his life his health was poor, but it was his good fortune to retain a vigorous mind and body until long past the four score period.
