Obituary of Mr. John Ralph.
The announcement of the death of Mr. Ralph was made in last week's Gazette and was received with profound sorrow by many who had known him for years. He had lived a busy life and the end found him prepared to
relinquish the cares and burdens of earth to enter upon the eternal rest of
heaven.John Ralph wag born in Comolan, County Wexford, Ireland, in May 1830. Coming to America in 1848, he spent several years in New York State and was married in 1858 at Rochester to Miss Margaret Murray. They at once went to Racine, Wis., and in 1860 came to Chickasaw county and located on a farm in Jacksonville township which remained the home until the fall of 1890 when they came to New
Hampton to make their home in the fine property on Linn avenue.Deceased was a man of remarkable physical vitality and this quality, coupled with energy, ambition and business ability beyond the ordinary, won for him success in the battle for a competency, and he leaves valuable property to his loved ones.
He is survived by his wife and six children. The latter are Thomas, Joseph and William Ralph and Mrs. C. J. Galligan and Mrs. James Seery, all of Jacksonville township, and Mrs. E. J. Canty of New Hampton. The funeral was held from St. Joseph's Catholic church in this city on Friday, March 1, the pastor, Rev. E. Slattery, conducting the service, and interment was in the parish cemetery.
