Obituary of Emma Jane Miller.
Emma Jane Miller was born in Marshall county, Indiana, in 1867, Nov. 30. She resided at the old home until she was 15 years of age; she then moved to South Dakota, settling at Bijou Hill. For ten years she was engaged in teaching in the public school, but because of failing health she was compelled to resign her position. In the year of 1897 she came to New Hampton where she has resided until her death.
Some ten years ago she was converted and united with the German Baptist or Brethern church. She has been a sufferer for a number of years. Her people did not feel alarmed about her until the last two days when it became evident that her end was near. She did not feel afraid of death but expressed a desire to fall asleep if it be His will. Her many triends have sustained a great loss in her death, for she was always very kind and ready to render any Christian service that was given her to perform. Her simple trust in the Savior was so strong that it became a great help to many who knew her. She is survived by her mother, one brother and three sisters, her father having died in the year of 1895 and one sister having died in infancy.
The funeral occurred Thursday at 1:30 o'clock.
