FREDERICKSBURG -- Harold C. Weitenhagen, 85, Mesa, AZ and formerly of Fredericksburg, died Friday, Sept. 29, 2000 at the Neely-Ray Hospice House in Gilbert, AZ.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg with Pastor Ronnie Koch presiding. Karen Downes will be organist and Ronnie Koch will be vocalist, singing "The Lord's My Shepherd Leading Me . Congregational hymns will be "How Great Thou Art" and "I Know That My Redeemer Lives".

Interment will be at 2 m. Friday in Garden of emories Cemeteiy, Waterloo. Casket bearers will be Robert Downes, Stuart Downes, Donald Peterson, Jerry Van Sant, Ron Van Sant and William Ott.

Visitation was Thursday, Oct. 5 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Chenoweth & Son Funeral Home in Fredericksburg and also on Friday for one hour prior to services at the church.

Harold was born in Fredericksburg on Jan. 5, 1915, the son of Frank and Marie (Kammeyer) Weitenhagen. He attended St. Paul’s Parochial School and graduated from Fredericksburg High School in 1933. He moved to Waterloo and graduated from Gates Business College in 1935. Harold worked at the D-X Petroleum Divisional office and spent some time in Chicago. In 1941 he moved to Baltimore, MD and worked at the Glen Martin Aircraft Plant during World War II. On June 10,1942 he married Dorothy Troge of St. Ansgar at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Baltimore. After the war, Harold returned to Waterloo and worked at John Deere and Lister Concrete Products. He bought the Lister Concrete Products business with Robert Purdy and worked there until he sold his interest in the business in 1977 and retired. After his wife’s death, Harold moved to Fredericksburg and then to Mesa, AZ in 1998. He was a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg and was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Mesa at the time of his death.

Surviving are two sons, Ronald and Barbara, Houston, TX, James and Andrea Tronslin, Beaverton, OR; two granddaughters; a sister, Loretta Downes, Fredericksburg.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Dorothy in 1990 and his parents.
