Funeral services for Lloyd “Louie” Webb of Alta Vista were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 2 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Alta Vista. Rev. Roger R. Rethamel officiated. Interment was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Alta Vista. Mary, John, and Randall Webb placed the pall. Pall bearers were: Keith Johnson, William Webb, Jacob Webb, Jim Webb, Bob Heying, and Jimmy Sherman. Honorary pall bearers were: Henry Hoffman, Tom Smith, Joe McAvoy, Wilma Springer, Delores Felder and Nancy Mahoney. Conway Funeral Home handled tire arrangements.

Lloyd, 77, died Monday, October 30, 2000 at his home in Alta Vista of natural causes.

Lloyd Dale Webb was born April 25, 1923 in Washington Township, near Alta Vista, the son of John and Edna Ione (Womack) Webb. He graduated from Alta Vista Public School in 1940. Alter his schooling he worked for various people in the Alta Vista area. On July 21; 1944 he entered the US Army, serving during WWII, he was honorably discharged on June 22, 1946. During his service he received a Purple Heart. After returning home from the service he worked for Reinhart Auto Service for three years.

On June 18, 1949 he married Mary Bird at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Alta Vista. After their marriage the couple resided in Alta Vista. He then became the Postmaster in Alta Vista, where he served until his retirement.

Lloyd was a member of the St. Bernard’s Catholic Church.

He was an avid fisherman, golfer, and enjoyed fixing watches and clocks.

Survivors include his wife Mary of Alta Vista; two sons: John of Minneapolis, MN and Randall also of Minneapolis; three grandchildren; one brother: Elroy of Dubuque; and 1 one sister: Edna Schroeder of Elma.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Russ, Ray, Ed, and Everett; ANd two sisters: Delores Freese and Velda Heying.
