NEW HAMPTON - Evelyn S. Wallace, 87, Waterloo, formerly of New Hampton, died Wednesday, November 1, 2000 at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, Cedar Falls.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, Nov, 4 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, New Hampton with Rev. Carl Schmitt and Rev. Leon Connolly of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Waterloo as concelebrants.
Burial was in the church cemetery, with Joe McGrane, J.C. Schnurr, Paul Siobakken, Jack Welbus, Pat Fitzgerald and Joe McQuoun as pallbearers.
Visitation was held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3 at the Larkin-Martin-Hugeback Funeral Home, New Hampton where there was a 7 p.m. parish scripture service.
Evelyn was born Aug. 18, 1913, in New Hampton, the daughter of Charles and Teresa (Peters) Schnurr. She attended school in New Hampton and graduated from the New Hampton High School. On June 23, 1936 she married Lee J. Wallace at St. Mary's Catholic Church, New Hampton. Evelyn worked as office manager for the Wood Products Company, Waterloo for 33 years. She was a member of St. joseph Catholic Church, Waterloo and was a volunteer for the Waterloo Chapter of the Red Cross.
Survivors include one brother, A.J. (Wish) Schnurr, New Hampton and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Lee in 1970; five brothers, Arthur, Walter, Clarence, Clem and Frank Schnurr and a sister, Marie Schnurr.
Memorials may be made to the Cedar Valley Hospice.
