NEW HAMPTON - Kay (Kathryn) Trewin, 89, died Friday, Sept. 22, 2000 at North Iowa Mercy Medical Center, Mason City after a brief illness.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26 at St. Mary's Catholic Cnurch with Rev. Carl Schmitt celebrating the Mass. Music for the service will be provided by Ann Bennett as organist and Lisa Trewin as vocalist. Gift bearers will be Kelly Trewin and Lynn Guzower. Lectors for the service are Jackie Gharib and Katie Gonzales.

Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, New Hampton, with grandsons, Ricnard Trewin, Tim Trewin, Paul Trewin, Joe Trewin, Ted Trewin, Michael Wright, Andy Berst and Brian Berst as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25 at Larkin-Martin-Hugeback Funeral Home in New Hampton where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary, a 6:30 p.m. scripture service and a 7 p.m. memorial tribute.

Kay was born in rural Chickasaw County on March 22, 1911, the daughter of William and Julia (Grove) Wentz. She attended rural country school and graduated from New Hampton High School. On Feb. 14, 1933 she was married to Harley Trewin. The couple initially farmed east of Fredericksburg, then moved west of New Hampton where they farmed until 1961 at which time they moved into New Hampton. Kay worked 18 years at tne former Kennedy Department Store, New Hampton. Memberships include: St. Mary's Catholic Church and Rosary Society and the former Mental Retardation Association. In her free time Kay enjoyed playing cards, especially Bridge, Five-Hundred and Euchre. She also enjoyed working in her yard and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Dave Trewin (Jo), Port St. Lucy, FL and Bob Trewin, Mason City; one daughter, Julie Berst, Westminister, CO; 13 grandchildren; ten greatgrandchildren and a special niece, Pat Cohee, Midway, AR.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband Harley in 1968; four sisters, Thelma Sohr, Dorothy Utley, Mabel Rollins and Doris Wentz in infancy; one brother, Harry Wentz and a granddaughter, DeeAnn Trewin.
