CEDAR RAPIDS -- Arnold "Joe" Speltz, 68, Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29 at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, with Rev. Andrew F. Lawrence officiating. Music was provided by the St. Pius X Resurrection Choir.
Interment was in Garden of Last Supper, Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, with military rites conducted by the Marion American Legion Post No. 298. Pallbearers were Jerry Steepleton, Bob Woodford, Ray Nelson, Don Kloos, Dick Welch and Dale Wilken.
A Vigil Service took place at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28 at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
Arnold Speltz was born Dec. 18, 1931 at New Hampton, the son of Bernard and Marie (Mersch) Speltz. He attended St. Mary's School and graduated from New Hampton High School in 1950. He served in tne U.S. Navy and was retired from Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids.
Surviving are his wife, Kay; four children; several grandchildren; four brothers, Norman (Marie) Speltz, Lawler, Gordon (Vonnie) Speltz, New Hampton, Cy (Joan) Speltz, Minneapolis, MN, Len (Corrine) Speltz, Palos Verdes, CA; two sisters, Nora Johnson and Mary (Dennis) Buckendahl, both of New Hampton; one sister-in-law, Nancy Speltz, Des Moines.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one sister, Lorraine Ball; one brother, Bernard Speltz Jr.
