NEW HAMPTON - Alvin J. Schwickerath, 81, Lady Lake, FL and formerly or New Hampton, died Sunday, June 11 at Leesburg Regional Medical Center, Leesburg, FL.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 16 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tlano, lL with Father Jerome Zalonis officiating.

Pall bearers will be Brian, Mark and Adam Shelton, Jay Francis, Matt Schwickerath ana Michael Schwickerath Jr.

Visitation was held Thursday, June 15 at Burkhart Funeral Home, Sandwich, IL.

Alvin was born Dec. 12, 1918 in New Hampton, the son of Nicholas anD Theordora (Papenheim) Schwickerath. He was united in marriage with Geneva Brown on March 24, 1942 in Waterloo. He served in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II. From 1967 to 1985, the couple resided in Plano, IL, moving to Lady Lake, FL in 1985. While living in Illinois Alvin was employed at Caterpillar Tractor Company for 21 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Plano. Alvin was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing with his family and friends.

Surviving are his wife, Geneva, Lady Lake, FL; three sons, John (Nan) Schwickerath, St. George, UT, Gary (Marge) Schwickerath, Tacoma, WA, Michael (Bari) Schwickerath, Sandwich, IL; three daughters, Marty (Bill) Francis, Sandwich, IL, Carol (Dennis) Shelton, Somonauk, IL and LuAnn Schwickerath, Burnsville, MN; 17 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Paul, Richard and Wilbert, all of New Hampton; one sister, Valery Gebel, Lime Springs.
