Funeral services will be held today, Wed., Dec. 13, 2000 at the Ricevllle United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. for Annie M. Reinke, age 98, of Riceville, formerly of the Ackley and Hampton area. Rev. Michael Carey officiating and burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Riceville. Lindstrom Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and friends may call on Tues., Dec. 12 from 4 to 8 p.m. She died Fri., Dec. 8, 2000 at the Riceville Community Rest Home.
Annie was born Aug. 28, 1902 in Ackley to Jasper and Gertrude (Jansen) Mein. She was one of eleven children born to this marriage. Annie attended local schools. On May 21, 1931, she was united in marriage to Harry H. Roske. One son. Floyd was born to this marriage. Annie and her husband, Harry, were engaged in farming in the Owasa area. She was an active partner, participating in every phase of the farms operation. In 1956, Annie was united in marriage to Herbert Reinke. She shared with her husband a love of farming. Herbert passed away in July of 1977. This same year, she moved to Riceville to be closer to her son. Annie was a member of the United Methodist Women and loved to garden, maintaining a garden until the age of 95.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her first husband, Harry in 1956; her second husband in 1977; two brothers and two sisters.
Those that survive her include her son, Floyd and his wife, Loma Roske of Riceville; seven grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Jake and his wife, Doris Mein of Ottumwa; and three sisters, Hilda Perkins of Eldora, Zena Everett of Cabot, AK and Tillie Pearce of Springfield, IL.
