OKLAHOMA CITY, OK -

Gary Powers, 63, Oklahoma City, OK, formerly of New Hampton, died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000 at Hillcrest Memorial Hospital, Oklahoma City of natural cases.

Graveside memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11 at the New Hampton Cemetery with Reverend Kevin Frey officiating.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11 at Conway Funeral Home, New Hampton.

Gary Orlin Powers was bom Feb. 3, 1937, the son of Orlin Winfield and Edna Charlotte (Faber) Powers. He attended New Hampton Community Schools. After his schooling he began working at John Deere in Waterloo. He was married to Bonnie (Larson) on July 22,1959. The couple resided in New Hampton and were later divorced. He retired from John Deere after 24 years of service. He then moved to Oklahoma where he was currently residing. He enjoyed stock car racing and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include one son, Craig (Michelie) Powers, Oelwein; one daughter, Suzanne Powers, Oelwein; two grandchildren and one sister, Carol Wright, Cedar Rapids.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one daughter, Lori Sutherland.
