NEW HAMPTON - Eugene R. Peyton, 72, New Hampton, died Monday, Jan. 3 at the New Hampton Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in New Hampton of natural causes.

Funeral services were 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 6 at Conway Funeral Home in New Hampton with Pastors David Bergstrom and Carol Christianson presiding. Edith Kolthoff was organist ana accompanied soloist Dance Donat. Hymn selections included "In The Carden” and "How Great Thou Art".

Inurnment was in New Hampton Cemetery with nephews and nieces serving as honorary bearers.

Visitation was from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5 at Conway Funeral Home in New Hampton.

Eugene Richard Peyton was born Oct. 14, 1927 at Clarion, the son of Leslie Dell and Lillian (Cowman) Peyton. He married Pearl Anna Ingalls Dec. 31, 1958 at Waterloo. They have made their home in New Hampton since their marriage. Gene worked on the bridge gang for the railroad before going to work for White Farm Equipment in Charles City, retiring after 18 1/2 years.

Surviving are his wife, Pearl; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Sue Peyton, Fairbank, Helen Butenoff, Hampton; nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; four brothers, Chester, Harold, Don and Jack; three sisters, ione Peyton, LaVonne Schloemer, Darlene Ambrosy.
