Muns Munson Dies at Home near Saude Saturday, Jan.6

Funeral Was Held on Monday Afternoon at Saude.

His Widow, Two Daughters and One Sister Survive.

Muns Munson, a prominent farmer in Utica township and a highly respected and well known citizen of Chickasaw county, died at his home Saturday, January 6. He had been in failing health for the past six weeks.

Funeral services were held at the Saude Lutheran church Monday afternoon, the Reverend H. M. Tjernagel, pastor, officiating. The pallbearers were J. C. Johnson, J. N. Amble, Nels Kolaas, Tom Munson, Carl Vigdal and Andrew Sjobakken.

Mr. Munson was born in Dane County, Wisconsin, in 1858, and came to Utica township when he was seven years of age. He was married to Andrina Sjobakken on July 15, 1907. He is survived by his widow and two daughters, the Misses Martha and Sophia Munson, all at home, and one sister, Mrs. Peter Overboe, of New Hampton.

Mr. Munson was a very successful farmer and occupied one of the finest farms in the county, with a beautiful home and other large, substantial buildings on the place. It has often attracted our attention and admiration by its commanding position on a little knoll with its well kept lawn and surroundings, and occupying an attractive setting among evergreens and other trees. It is the type of a home which reflects the character and industry of the man who planned and built it, and his home life was all that one could desire. The care of his household and the comfort of his family were his first concern and he did everything possible for them and his love and affection were reciprocated by those about him. He believed industry, sobriety, honesty, and courage were essential in all walks of life, and practiced these virtues as one who found joy in living.

He did his part in the community life as one who feels honored or favored with an opportunity to prove his loyalty and to increase his value as a citizen. All thru life he sought the highway leading to right, earnestly seeking the path his conscience could approve. He was sincere in all his conduct. He was true to himself in all things, therefore could not be false to any man. He traveled the road of the pioneer, undergoing the hardships of that period and as changes came he accepted them as a blessing and proof that beyond the grave lies a New 'World where happiness abounds, and where our deeds here shall be accepted as evidence of fitness for the Life Eternal. He was a true Christian gentleman who was loved and honored by all who knew him. His death has brought a deep sense of loss and genuine sorrow to multitudes of people in the community where he lived and throughout this county. The Tribune-Gazette joins with hundreds of our readers in expressing heartfelt sympathy to a fine family left behind in the great loss that has come to them.
