LAWLER— Geneva Nystel, 84, rural Lawler, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000 at Mercy Medical Center, New Hampton of natural causes.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 6 at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Alta Vista with Rev. Peter D. Peterson officiating. Norma Firkins was the organist and accompanied those in attendance singing "Jesus Loves Me", "Rock of Ages" and "My Faith Looks Up To Thee".
Burial was in Union Cemetery, Alta Vista with Danny Howe, Russell Howe, Jr., Jim Lechtenberg, Raymond Nystel, Marlin Nystel, Clifford Anderson, Todd Mitchell, Ross Mitchell and David Howe serving as casket bearers.
Visitation was after 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 5 at Conway Funeral Home, New Hampton, and an hour prior to services at the church.
Geneva E. Nystel was born June 19, 1916 in Utica Township, rural Lawler, the daughter of Andrew and Mary Christina (Anderson) Nystel. She was baptized and confirmed at Crane Creek Lutheran Church. She attended country school at Jacksonville #7 and New Hampton High School. She lived and worked with her parents on the family farm in the rural Lawler area all of her life. She taught Bible School at Crane Creek Lutheran Church for 30 years and also took care of many of her relatives. She enjoyed gardening and going to rummage sales with ner sister, Agnes.
Survivors include two brothers, Andrew and Ingval Nystel, Lawler and three nieces and one nephew.
Preceding her in death were her parents; four brothers, Jack Nystel, Erick Nystel, Omer Nystel and Ingval Nystel, in infancy; three sisters, Edna Nystel, in infancy, Mildred Nystel, in infancy and Agnes Howe and one nephew.
