Thirty Years Ago This Week
John Darling, 84 years of age, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 1892, at the home of his sister C. C. Collins in this city. Deceased enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1835 and served in the Seminole and Creek Indian Wars and in the Blackhawk war. He was stationed at Fort Dearborn where Chicago now stands before a house was erected in that city, and was stationed at Fort Snelling when only government buildings were erected in St. Paul.
