Obituary.
Sarah Rebecca Blackburn was born at New Bedford, Pa., Oct. 15th, 1850. She moved to Iowa in 1855, settling in Mitchell county, and in 1861 she moved to McGregor. In March 1861, she was united in marriage to W. J. Wallis, and to this union one son, C. R. Wallis, of Nashua, was born. She was the eldest of a family of five, two sisters and three brothers. All, with the exception of one brother, Frank E. Blackburn of Chicago, have preceded her to the other world. With her husband and son she came to Nashua in May, 1901, and in May, 1903, her husband passed away. She made her home with her son for two years then returned to McGregor to live with and care for her mother, who passed away a short time after. Two years ago last May she was married to J. Henry Brown of McGregor who with the son survives to mourn the loss of a loving wife and mother.
Funeral services were held the afternoon of Monday, April 1st, in the Methodist church of McGregor, Rev. Perry officiating and interment was in the family lot at the McGregor cemetery.
