NEW HAMPTON - Joseph W. Laures, 87, died Friday, March 31 at Mercy Medical Center - New Hampton after suffering an apparent heart attack.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 3 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in New Hampton with Rev. Carl Schmitt presiding. Sister Lorraine Loecher was organist and accompanied cantor Jenny Baltes and the St. Joseph Resurrection Choir. Joe’s children placed the pall. Lectors were Jim and Joanne Putz and Craig Laures. Eucharistic Ministers were Mary Jo Clarine and Stan and Virginia Laures.

Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in New Hampton with Stan Laures, Jim Laures, Russell Laures, John Winter and John and Joey Clarine serving as casket bearers.

Visitation was from 3 to 7 .m. on Sunday, April 2 at onway Funeral Home in New Hampton where there was a 4:30 p.m. Knights of Columbus Rosary ana a 6:30 p.m. Scripture Service. Visitation was also an hour before service time at the church:

Joseph William Laures was born Dec. 31, 1912 at New Hampton, the son of Hubert and Elizabeth (Rammer) Laures. He was a 1931 graduate of New Hampton High School. Joe was united in marriage to Dorothy Offerman on Aug. 10, 1942 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Alta Vista. Together they farmed for over 40 years near Alta Vista before retiring and moving to New Hampton. Joe had served on the Cresco Creamery Board for 13 yeairs and had been active in 4-H and FHA. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and of the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; a son, Loras, Waterloo; a daughter, Rose (Barry) Brinkmeier, Lodi, WI; a grandson, Craig Laures, St. Louise, MO; a granddaughter, Kristi Brinkmeier, Baraboo WI; and a sister, Rose Hayes, Kanakee, IL.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two sisters, Lucy Winter and Helen Bader; and three brothers, Felix, Bernard and Harold Laures.
