NEW HAMPTON ~ Aleda T. Lee, 82, died Saturday, April 8 at the New Hampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in New Hampton of complications of a brain tumor.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 11 at Immanuel Lutheran Cnurch (Crane Creek), rural Lawler, with Rev. Peter D. Peterson officiating. Gerald Bailey was the organist and accompanied those in attendance singing "Amazing Grace", "My Faith Looks Up To Thee" and "How Great Thou Art".
Burial was in the Crane Creek Cemetery with Jeff Larson, Tony Larson, Richard, Lee, James Lee, Irvin Nystel and Glen Nystel serving as casket bearers. Vern Njus was an honorary casket bearer.
Visitation was from 4 to 8 .m. on Monday, April 10 at onway Funeral Home in New Hampton and also an hour prior to services at the church.
Aleda Tenora Nystel was born May 7, 1917 near Lawler, the daughter of Iver and Martha (Kjarvik) Nystel. She attended country school near her home. After her schooling she worked as a housekeeper for Rev. Finstad at the Crane Creek Church Parsonage and also various other families in the area.
On June 1, 1937 she married Arthur Lee at the Crane Creek Lutheran Church. After their marriage the couple resided and farmed in various places near New Hampton. The couple was married for 62 years.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the WELCA. She was also an active member of the Jacksonville Historians (Five Corners). Aleda loved flowers, going to garage sales, and grocery shopping with friends. She was also known by many for the genealogical records she kept of her friends and family.
Survivors include her husband, Arthur, New Hampton; two daughters, Marlys (Wayne) Hart, Loves Park, IL and Adis Lee, New Hampton; one son, Carlyle (Peggy) Lee, Durand, IL; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Evelyn Stansbery (Lawrence), Waterloo; and one brother, Raymond Nystel, New Hampton.
Preceding her in death were her parents; four brothers, Arthur, Ivan, Kenneth and Edward; and four sisters, Myrtle Irene in infancy, Engeborg Maria Njus, Hazel Lee and Mavis Olson.
