IONIA/NASHUA - Joyce Kruger, 79, formerly of the Ionia and Nashua area, died Wednesday, May 24 after a long illness at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 26 at the Little Brown Church near Nashua with Pastors Linda and Bob Myren presiding. Betty Orric will be organist and Janice Edson soloist. Hymns will include "How Great Thou Art" and "Hymn of Praise".

Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Nashua with Henry Harnisch, Paul Kruger, Terry and Kirk Bailey, Kraig Kruger and David Kruger serving as casket bearers.

Visitation was from 5-8 .m. Thursday, May 25 at onway Funeral Home in New Hampton and also for 45 minutes prior to services at the church on Friday.

Joyce Elizabeth Kruger was born Dec. 25, 1920 at New Hampton, the daughter of Paul and Anna (Kahn) Bailey. She was a graduate of New Hampton High School and received her teaching certificate at State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. Joyce taught in the rural school system for a short time and married Donald Kruger Aug. 4, 1940 at the Little Brown Church. The couple farmed in the Ionia and Nashua area until his death in 1976. Joyce later married Henry Harnisch. She has been a resident of the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home since 1989.

Surviving are three sons, Kent (Joan) Kruger, Ionia, Kerry (Pat) Kruger, Nashua, Donald (Brenda) Kruger, Woodward; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald Bailey, Nashua.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husbands, Donald and Henry; a granddaughter, Karmen Kruger; a great-granddaughter, Aleah Capron; one brother, Gerald Bailey.
