NEW HAMPTON - Dale "Curly" Krall, 67, New Hampton, died Sunday, June 11 at his home of cancer.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 15 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, New Hampton, with Rev. Carl Schmitt as celebrant. The pall was placed on the casket by his sons. Ann Bennett was organist. Offertory gifts were presented by his grandchildren, Dustin, Tangela and Carter Krall.
Interment was in Calvary Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Fae Stine American Legion Post #38. Pallbearers were nephews, Mike Hurd, Steve Hurd, Todd Schaufenbuel, Faron Swehla, Scott Hackman and Paul Hackman.
Visitation was from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 14 at Larkin-Martin-Hugeback Funeral Home, New Hampton, with a 4 p.m. Rosary and 7 p.m. Parish Scripture Service and also an hour prior to services at the church.
Dale was born in Little Turkey on Oct. 2, 1932, the son of Ben and Clara (Hayek) Krall. He attended St. Joseph Catholic School in New Hampton and graduated from New Hampton High School in 1950. On Jan. 14, 1953, he was inducted into the U.S. Army where he received a National Defense Service Medal with the 6th Armored Division. He was honorably discharged on Dec. 3, 1954. Dale married Karen Lukes on Nov. 29,1956 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in New Hampton. He was a custodian at New Hampton High School for 23 years, retiring in 1994. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, sporting events and boating.
Surviving are his wife, Karen; four sons, Jeffrey (Shelly) Krall, Charles City, Kevin Krall, New Hampton, Curt Krall, Denver, CO and Derek (Lori) Krall, Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren; his mother, Clara Krall, New Hampton; one sister, Joanne (Bill) Hurd, New Hampton.
Preceding him in death was his father in 1978.
