NEW HAMPTON - John Koleno, 63, died Saturday, Jan. 8 at his home after a short illness.

Funeral Services will be Tuesday, Jan. 11 at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, North Washington with Reverend Francis Perry presiding. Jane Karels will be organist and accompany the Immaculate Conception Men's Choir. John's children will place the pall and his grandchildren will be gift bearers. Eucharistic minister will be Lucille Zeien.

Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, New Hampton with Bill Wohlers Sr., Bill Wohlers, Jr., Tom Wohlers, Ron Martin, Roger McDonald and Jim Kacher serving as casket bearers.

Visitation was held Monday, Jan. 10 at Conway Funeral home, New Hampton.

John Stanley Koleno was born April 28, 1936 at New Hampton, the son of John Frank and Lillian (Krall) Koleno. He attended St. Mary’s and later St. Joseph's Schools, New Hampton. John started work for Red Line Vending when he was 15 and worked there until retirement in April of 1999. He continued working part-time with Red Line until health problems forced him to quit.

He married Edna Ann Vorwald on April 27, 1957 at St. Mary's Church, New Hampton and they lived in the New Hampton area all their married years. Survivors include his wife, Edna; a daughter, Linda (Leon) Zeien, New Hampton; a son, Steve (Cindy) Koleno, Evansdale; eight grandchild, Jeremiah, Elijah, Annah, Sandrah and Isaiah Zeien and Troy, Andy and John Koleno; his mother, Lillian Koleno, Waverly; two brothers, Joseph, New Hampton and James, Dunkerton; three sisters, Sally Austin, Waverly, Susie Lampson, Republic and Dorothy Lubenstein, Anchorage, AL.

Preceding him in death was his father, Jon Frank Koleno in 1993.
