MARION -- James Oscar Johnson, 70, Marion, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000 at St. Luke's Hospital following a short illness.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 7 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Marion, with Rev. Thomas Hedtke officiating.
Burial is in Oak Shade. Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post #298. run,visitation was Wednes-, Sept. 6 from 4-7 p.m. at Murdoch Funeral Home, Marion, and also one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
James was born Aug. 15, 1930 at Jerico, the son of Edward and Hannah (Braham) Johnson. On July 25, 1959 he married Marilyn Ullerich in Vinton. He was a test technician at Rockwell Collins for 36 years, retiring in 1991. James served with the Marines during the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are his wife, Marilyn, Marion; a son, Curtis (Polly) Johnson, Atlanta, GA; two daughters, Joelyn Postlethwait, Marion and Karin (Kellan) Dillon, Evanston, IL; five grandchildren; a sister, Martha Johnson, Madison, WL
Preceding him in death were his parents; a son-in-law, Wally Postlethwait; three brothers, Percival, Andrew and Charles; two sisters, Ada LaClair and Cornelia Johnson.
A memorial fund has been established.
