ALTA VISTA - Vera Hueneke, 91, Escondido, CA, formerly of the Alta Vista area, died Wednesday, April 19 at the Palomar Continuing Care Center in Escondido of natural causes.

A memorial service was held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 26 at Zion Lutheran Church in Alta Vista with Rev. Peter D. Peterson officiating. Norma Firkins was organist, and accompanied those in attendance singing "Lord, Take My Hand And Lead Me", "My Faith Looks Up To Thee" and "Amazing Grace".

Inurnment was in Union Cemetery, Alta Vista. Conway Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Vera Laura Hueneke was bom July 29, 1908 in Alta Vista, the daughter of John and Minnie (Joachim) Hueneke. After graduating from high school, Vera attended summer school at Iowa Teachers College in Cedar Falls, where she eventually received her degree and began teaching school. She taught for over 40 years in Iowa ana Illinois. Most of her career was spent at Ogden Avenue School in LaGrange, IL, teaching third grade. After her retirement from teaching, Vera moved to Escondido, CA where she was currently residing. She spent most of tier retirement traveling and doing volunteer work.

Survivors include one sister, Florence Homyer; eight nieces and nephews.
