FREDERICKSBURG Donald Lee Gruenberg, 49 Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, April 26 at Mercy Medical Center-New Hampton of natural causes..
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 29 at St. John Lutheran Church/ Stapleton, rural Waucoma, with Pastor Milton Johnson officiating. Megan Wenthold was organist, accompanying congregational singing of "Just As I Am , "Softly and Tenderly" and "How Great Thou Art".
Interment was in Hawkeye Cemetery, Hawkeye, with Tom Trewin, Ron CarOlan, Casey Clark, Tom Carolan, Steve Wiley and Norman Wurzer as casket bearers.
Visitation was Friday, April 28 at Chenoweth & Son Funeral Home, Fredericksburg.
Donald Lee Gruenberg was born May 29, 1950 at New Hampton, the son of Alvin and Alice (Weidemann) Gruenberg. He attended country schools and graduated from Fredericksburg High School in 1968. He attended Iowa State University, Ames, for two years. Don was united in marriage with Linda Burkhardt at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg on June 5, 1971. He was employed as a mechanic and field tiler with Wiley Agricultural Construction of Fredericksburg for the past 25 years. As a hobby, Don enjoyed his "farm" and spent time tinkering with and/or repairing things. His family was very important to him.
Surviving are his wife, Linda, Fredericksburg; two sons, Shane (Bridgette), Fredericksburg, Chad, Lawler; his mother, Alice, Sumner; one brother, Keith, Layton, UT; two sisters, Donna Tremaine, Sumner, Carol Ritter, Oakland Park, FL.
Preceding him in death was his father, Alvin.
