NEW HAMPTON -- Betty Ann Fliger, 81, New Hampton, died Tuesday, July 4 at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton from complications of a stroke.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 7 at the United Methodist Church with Rev: Catherine Luck presiding. Kim Hilgendorf will be organist and accompany soloist Rich Leichtman. Hymns will include "In The Garden” and "The Old Rugged Cross".

Burial will be in the New | Hampton Cemetery with Bob Roberson, Jeff Fliger, Bill Kelly, Dan Walters, Wendell Hurst, Ron Zeien, Dr. Curtis Rainy and Rich Leichtman as casket bearers. Honorary bearers will i be Bill Fliger, Harvey Roberson, John Kelly, Dr. Simpson Burke, Dr. James Carr, Manly Fliger, Herbert Fliger and Doug Good.

Visitation was 4-8 p.m. Thursday, July 6 at Conway Funeral Home m New Hampton and at the church an hour before service time.

Betty Ann Fliger was born Jan. 22, 1919 at Fostville, the daughter of Dan and Myrtle (Brott) Walters. The family moved to New Hampton and Betty graduated from New Hampton High School. She attended the Norwegian School of Nursing in Chicago and in 1939, married Alfred m. Fliger at New Hampton. The Fligers spent their entire married life and raised their family in New Hampton. She was a member of the Methodist Church and a Circle member. Betty was employed by the hospital as a medical records librarian and was also a member of the Hospital Auxiliary. She was associated with the hospital in New Hampton for over 50 years, both as an employee and later as a volunteer.

Surviving are two daughters, Judy Good, Iowa City, and Margaret Burke, Seattle, WA; three sons, Daniel, Ankeny, Phillip, Des Moines, Andrew, Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elouise Roberson, Elma, Donna Zeien, Hastings, MN; one brother, Robert Walters, Grundy Center.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Alfred on Dec. 8, 1997; one brother, Arthur Walters; one sister, Ruth Stapher.

Memorials may be directed to the Hospital Auxiliary.
