FREDERICKSBURG - Walter Feldick, 85, Monona, formerly of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000 at the Central Community Hospital, Elkader of a heart attack.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 at Peace United Church of Christ, Fredericksburg.
Visitation will be from 4-7 .m. Friday, Dec. 15 at the Chenoweth and Son Funeral Home, Fredericksburg and one hour before services at the church on Saturday.
Walter was born Oct. 2, 1915 in Graceville, MN, the son of Charles and Mabel (Rinke) Feldick. He attended elementary school in Graceville and the State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND. He earned the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal and nine Battle Stars during WWII. He married Edna Tinsley on May 2, 1942 in Oklahoma City, OK. He owned and operated Walt's Blacksmith Shop, Fredericksburg for 25 years, retiring in 1975. He served as mayor of Fredericksburg 18 years. He was a 55 year member of the American Legion, lifetime member of the Blacksmith's and Welder's Association, a member of the Masons and Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include one daughter, Janice (Jim) Johanningmeier, McGregor; one son, Jim (Darlene) Feldick, Victoria, MN; eight grandchildren; three great-grand-j children; two brothers, Elmer, Garrison, MN and Raymond, Ortonville, MN and a sister, Carol Kloos, Donnelly, MN.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Edna, in 1991; his parents; a sister, Esther Feldick and a brother, Kermit Feldick.
