NEW HAMPTON - Keith D. Erickson, 69, New Hampton, died Monday, Feb. 7 at the New Hampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of natural causes.

A private family service was held Friday, Feb. 11 at the Larkin-Martin-Hugeback Funeral Home in New Hampton with Rev. Marvin Salz officiating.

Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery, New Hampton, with military rites accorded by the Fae Stine American Legion Post #38. The United States flag was presented to his oldest son, Jeff. Pallbearers were Terri Rabe, Dave Rabe, Jeff Erickson, Kevin Erickson, Todd Erickson, Jason Erickson and Jeremy Erickson.

Visitation was 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10 at the funeral home, with a 7 p.m. Scripture Service.

Keith was born Jan. 12, 1931 in Wadena, the son of Ole and Henrietta (Sabo) Erickson. He graduated in 1948 from the Volga City High School in Volga. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Sept. 13, 1950 and was honorably discharged on July 12, 1954 and had received the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. On Aug. 16, 1955, Keith married Leta Ann Terry in Spillville. After their marriage, the couple moved to New Hampton. He initially worked at the former S&S Firestone and owned A&K Motor Supply in New Hampton from 1977 to 1986. He also owned Dad's Place in Fredericksburg from 1988 to 1992.

Keith was an avid sports fan, especially the 49ers, Braves and Iowa Wrestling. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing and bowling.

Survivors include one daughter, Terri (Dave) Rabe, New Hampton; five sons, Jeff (Donna) Erickson, Cedar Falls, Kevin Erickson, Jason Erickson and Jeremy Erickson, all of New Hampton, Todd (Cindy) Erickson, Olathe, KS; seven grandchildren; one sister, Janice Lentz, Fayette.

Preceding him in death were his parents; His wife, Leta Ann Erickson on June 7, 1984; a brother, Robert Erickson.
