FREDERICKSBURG - Carl C. Engel, 88, died Saturday evening, Jan. 15 at the Sunrise Guest Home in Fredericksburg of cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 19 at Peace United Church of Christ in Fredericksburg.

Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Fredericksburg.

Visitation was held from 3 to 7 .m, on Tuesday, Jan. 18 at henoweth & Son Funeral Home in Fredericksburg and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Carl C. Engel was born on Aug. 6, 1911 in Friend, NE, the son of Henry H. and Anna (Bangs) Engel. He received his education in rural Nebraska schools through the eighth grade. Carl married Phyllis Bruntz on May 10, 1942 in Nebraska. He farmed and milked. They moved to a farm south of Fredericksburg in 1952 and lived there until 1996 when they moved to town.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis, Fredericksburg; one son, Larry (Frances) Engel, Fredericksburg; one daughter, Darlys (Stanley) Saunders, Waverly; and four grandchildren, Michael Saunders, Kim VerSteeg, Jeff and Jamie Engel.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and four brothers, Alfred, Wesley, Willard and his twin, Paul.
