SAUK CENTRE, MN ~ Emma Catherine Eltgroth, 87, died at her home on their farm in rural Sauk Centre, near West Union. MN, on April 29.

A Mass of Resurrection was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 2 at St. Alexius Catholic Church in West Union, MN with Father Joe Vandeberg officiating.

Interment was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were her eight grandchildren, John Eltgroth, Joseph Eltgroth, Michael Eltgroth, Ann Dardis, Peter Eltgroth, Sarah Woeste, Kris Samuelson and Jon Sam-uelson. Honorary pallbearers were, the Christian Mothers.

Visitation was held from 4 to 9 p.m. on Monday, May 1 at St. Alexius Church in West Union, MN with a Christian Mothers Rosary at 7:15 p.m. and the Parish Prayer Service at 8 p.m.

Emma was born in New Hampton on July 19, 1912, the daughter of Anton and Anna (Brincks) Rosonke. She attended grade school in New Hampton and two years of high school at St. Angela Academy in Carroll. Emma met Louis Eltgroth from West Union, MN while in Carroll. They were married Feb. 14, 1933 in St. Mary's Church in New Hampton. They then moved to their farm near West Union, MN.

Emma was active at St. Alexius Parish all of her married life. She sang in the choir until 1998. She was a member of the Christian Mothers and St. Cloud Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (DCCW) and served in leadership positions in both organizations. Emma and Louis helped with the parish sausage suppers for 50 years. She was a member of St. Veronica's Mission Group and made many quilts and baby layettes.

Emma enjoyed her family, baking, cooking, sewing, gardening, flowers and her grandchildren. For years Emma and Louie wrapped cloth bandages for the St. Gloud Mission office.

Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Louis Eltgroth, Sauk Centre, MN; her children, Sister Mary Lou Eltgroth, OSF, Little Falls, MN, Nicholas (Nancy) Eltgroth, Cohasset, MN, Richard (Louise) Eltgroth, West Union, MN, Cecelia (Karl) Samuelson, Kandiyohi, MN, Rita Eltgroth, Irian Jaya, Indonesia; eight grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren; and two sisters, Rose Schwickerath, New Hampton and Sister Mary Agnesine Rosonke, Dubuque.

Preceding her in death were a great-grandson, Andrew Eltgroth; her parents; brothers, Bernard, Frank, Leo, Tony and an infant brother, John Rosonke.

Roy-Hetland Funeral Home in Osakis, MN was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
