FREDERICKSBURG -- Betty M. Downing, 66, Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000 at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo of natural causes.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 22 at United Methodist Church in Fredericksburg.

Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg.

Visitation was Thursday, Sept. 21 from 5-8 p.m. at Chenoweth & Son Funeral Home in Fredericksburg and also one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday.

Betty became employed by the Fredericksburg Schools in 1969 and held various job titles over the next 25 years, retiring in 1994 as elementary secretary.

Surviving are her husband, Donald; one son, James (Patty), Lakewood, CO; two daughters, Stacy (David) Crabtree, Mt. Vernon, Gerri (Rick) Moore, Torrington, WY; four grandchildren; one sister, Elaine Lewis, Grinnell.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Thomas and Maude (Timmerman) Kuhens; one sister, Lucy Lamphier.
