NEW HAMPTON - Andrew "Bob" Douglas, 84, died Saturday, March 11 at the New Hampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of natural causes.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 15 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Hampton with Rev. Harvey Abrahamson officiating. Organist will be Carol Anderson and she will accompany those in attendance singing "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God", "Jesus Christ, My Sure Defense" and "I Know That My Redeemer Lives".
Burial will be in the New Hampton Cemetery with Robert Anderson, Louis Douglas, Gene Davis, Ray Douglas, Randy Johnson and Roger Rings serving as casket bearers. Graveside military rites will be provided by the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts of New Hampton.
Visitation was after 4 p.m on Tuesday, March 14 at Conway Funeral Home in New Hampton and also an hour prior to services at the church.
Andrew Lloyd Douglas was born July 23, 1915 near New Hampton, the son of Louis and Josepnine (Anderson) Douglas. He attended rural schools.
Andrew served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After his return, he was a farm
hand for Reuben Bender. In 1967 he moved to New Hampton. He married Mildred A. Johnson on March 3, 1973 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Hampton. While in New Hampton he worked at the New Hampton Cemetery until his retirement in 1985.
Survivors include several step-children and grandchildren; two sisters, Irene (Cliff) Anderson and Elaine Johnson, all of Waterloo; one brother, Bernard (Gwendolyn) Douglas, New Hampton; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Mildred, on June 30, 1996 and three brothers, Stanley, Lowell and Maynard.
