NEW HAMPTON - Ray Buscher, 79, New Hampton, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Carl Schmitt celebrating the mass. The pall will be placed on the casket by grandchildren Jeff Buscher and Shelly Lucas. The lector for the service will be Paul Schwickerath. The offertory gifts will be presented by Mary Buscher and Becky Grandgenett.

Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery with Bob Hackman, Don Hackman, Casey McDermott, Mike Carlin, Glen Angell and Matt Andersen as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Emmett Martin and Leon Hugeback.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, Sept. 19 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Larkin-Martin-Huge-back Funeral Home, New Hampton where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary, a 7 p.m. scripture service and a 7:30 p.m. memorial tribute.

Ray was born Nov. 19, 1920 in Humboldt, the first child of Joe and Marie (Schuller) Buscher. He graduated from high school in Gilmore City. Shortly after graduation he enlisted in the Navy Seabees where he served for several years. On June 5, 1946 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, New Hampton, he married Elaine DeBettignies. The couple made their home in New Hampton where Ray worked several years for Red Line Vending. Ray also worked many years driving ambulance for Chickasaw Ambulance. From the early 1960's until his retirement in 1988, Ray worked part-time and full-time for the Larkin-Martin Funeral Home. In 1976, grandson Jeff Buscher came to live with Ray and Elaine. Jeff was later adopted by Ray and Elaine and raised by his grandparents in New Hampton. Ray enjoyed fishing and spending time at his cabin in Clear Lake and was also known for his ability to fix nearly everything. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, New Hampton.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine; one son, Ken Buscher and his wife Mindy, Camdenton, MO; four grandsons; one granddaughter; nine brothers, John Buscher (Clarice), Phoenix, AZ; Bob Buscher (Jeanette), Gib Buscher (Bev), Jim Buscher; Dick Buscher (Gini); Tom Buscher (Barb); Joe Buscher (Chris), all of Algona; Ron Buscher (Mary), Monticello and Larry Buscher (Gail), Algona; three sisters, Catherine Reeve (Ed), Belle Vista, AR; Jeanette McEnroe (Jim), Algona and Mary Jo Studed (Merlin), Wesley.

Preceding him in death were his parents arid a brother, Donny Buscher.
