NEW HAMPTON - Regina (Betty) E. Carlin, 82, New I Hampton, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2000 at Mercy Medical Center-New Hampton of natural causes.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Aug. 24 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Carl Schmitt celebrating the mass. Music for the services will be provided by Ann Bennett as organist, the St. Joseph Resurrection Choir and Michele Sailstad and David Carlin as cantors. The pall will be placed on the Casket by her six children. Lectors for the service are her three daughters. The offertory gifts will be 1 presented by her granddaughters. Eucharistic ministers are Larry and Edna Jirak.

Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Reilly Ridge, rural Lawler with John Carlin, Tristan Millington-Drake, Gary Johnson, Mark Johnson, Steven Carlin and Jim Carlin as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23 at Larkin-Martin-Hugeback Funeral Home, New Hampton where there will be a 4 p.m. Rosary and a 7 p.m. Parish Scripture Service. Further visitation is one hour prior at the church.

Regina was born March 21, 1918 in Kansas City, KS, the only child of Paul and Genevieve (Roberts) Day. She received a Catholic education through 12th grade, graduating in Ft. Leavenworth, KS. On Sept. 9, 1940 she married Leonard Carlin at Sacred Heart Parish-Reilly Ridge, Lawler. The couple lived immediately west of the church where they farmed and all of their seven children were raised. They moved to New Hampton in 1966 and Betty worked at the two nursing homes in New Hampton.

Survivors include three sons, Michael (Dorothy) Carlin, New Hampton; Charles (Phyllis) Carlin, Waverly; Daniel Carlin, Minneapolis, MN; three daughters, Genevieve Carlin, Amery, WI; Patricia (Gary) Johnson, Manchester; Kathleen (Tristin) Millington-Drake, London, England; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Sr. Irene Carlin O.S.F., Dubuque and Anna Beth Carlin, Amarillo, TX.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Leonard and her daughter, Theresa Carlin.
