NEW HAMPTON - Mandy Jo Brummond, 13, New Hampton, died Monday, Feb. 22 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City following a brief illness.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 25 at St. Joseph Catholic Cnurch, New Hampton, with Rev. Carl Schmitt as celebrant.

Interment is in the New Hampton Cemetery with Todd Brummond, Dick Brummond, Dan Brummond, Carrie Roethler, Sherri Dowd and Brian Roethler as pallbearers. _

Visitation was from 3-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24 at Larkin-Martin-Hugeback Funeral Home, New Hampton, with a 7:30 p.m. Parish Scripture Service and also an hour prior to the services at church.

Mandy was born in Seoul, Korea as Lim Sung Hee on Feb. 25, 1986. On June 3,1986, at 3 1/2 months old, she was adopted by Randy and Joy Brummond of New Hampton. Initially she was in pre-school in New Hampton and at 3 1/2 years old went to Lincoln School in Charles City for three years. She then attended New Hampton Elementary School until she reached sixth grade. She began the sixth grade at Jefferson Middle School in Coralville where she had become a resident of the REM Group Home. In June 1999, Mandy became a resident of the Hills & Dales Child Development Home in Dubuque where she enrolled in Jefferson Jr. High School. In June of 1999, Mandy received her United States citizenship. Mandy enjoyed watching "Wheel of Fortune", music, singing, dancing and her big brother.

Survivors include her parents, Randy and Joy Brummond, New Hampton; one brother, Todd Brummond, New Hampton; paternal grandmother, Geraldine Brummond, New Hampton; maternal grandfather, Charles Peyton, Waterloo; paternal great-grandmother, Maurine Holschlag, New Hampton; maternal reat-grandmother, Margaret Sue Peyton, Fairbank; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Preceding her in death were her paternal grandfather, LaVern Brummond and a maternal grandmother, Belva Peyton.
