NEW HAMPTON - George N. Braham, 94, New Hampton, died Sunday, Feb. 6 of natural causes at the New Hampton Care Center.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 10 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Hampton with Rev. Harvey AbrahamSon presiding. Carol Anderson was organist and accompanied the congregational singing.
[ymn selections included "I'm But A Stranger Here, Heaven Is My Home", "Rock Of Ages", "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Amazing Grace".
Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in New Hampton with Art Borlaug, Lee Miller, Amie Tierney, Roger Nosbisch, Elmer Homey and George Knutson serving as casket bearers. _
Visitation was from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9 at Conway Funeral Home in New Hampton, with a 5 p.m. Prayer Service and for an hour before services at the church.
George N. Braham was born Nov. 7, 1905 in Jerico, the son of Hans and Mary (Robinson) Braham. He was baptized and confirmed in the Jerico Lutheran Church and later was a charter member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Hampton. He attended the country schools through the eighth grade. George spent his freshman and sophomore years at Luther Academy in Decorah and his junior and senior years at New Hampton High School. After graduation, he was employed at the euthold-Reich Clothing Store and later the Leuthold-O'Connor Store. He left there to manage the B&B Clothing Store which later was sold to Ray Hutcheson. He married Luella Wentz June 27, 1938 at St. Joseph Rectory in New Hampton. In 1942, George became a Watkins dealer. After 32 years, he retired from the Watkins Co. and worked part time at Conway Funeral Home.
Surviving are his wife, Luella; a son and his wife, Donald and Kathleen, Virginia Beach, VA; two grandchildren, Steven (Tracey), Virginia Beach, Christine (Russell) Nance, New York, NY; one nephew, George Knutson, Fairbault, MN.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a daughter, Marilu Braham; one sister, Alice Knutson; three brothers, Henry, Lars and Carl.
