LAWLER - Loren E. Billmeyer, 90. Lawler, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000 at Mercy Medical center, New Hampton, of natural causes.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 20 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Lawler, with Rev. Marvin Salz presiding;. Lector was Joe Scally. Ruth McKone was organist and Colleen Busta was Vocalist.
Interment was in the church cemetery with Bill Rochford, Pat Rochford, Jerry Rochford, Mark Rochford, Dan Rochford and Joe Rochford as pallbearers.
Visitation was held 3-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19 at Larkin-Martin-Hugeback Funeral Home, Lawler, with a 4 p.m. Rosary and a 7 p.m. Parish Scripture Service.
Loren was born May 23, 1910 in Hawkeye, the son of Edward and Viola (Burroughs) Billmeyer. He received his education in the Hawkeye Public School. On Oct. 2,1939, he married Claire Rochford at the Holy Name Rectory in West Union. Loren worked at the Citizens Savings Bank in Hawkeye from 1937 until 1967 at which time the couple moved to Lawler. Prom 1967 to 1977, Loren was associated with the State Bank of Lawler. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting and camping. He was charter member of the conservation Club and a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife, Claire; two sons, James (Ruth) Billmeyer, Hope Sound, FL, Robert Billmeyer, Omaha, NE; one daughter, Rosemarie (Timothy) Byrd, Indianapolis, IN; seven grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents and three sisters, Laura Allensworth, Marie Hanna and LuLa Belschrier.
