Clark Nelson Bigelow, 84
IONIA - Clark Nelson Bigelow, 84, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000 at the New Hampton Care Center in New Hampton.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4 at Chenoweth & Son Funeral Home in Nashua with Pastors Bob and Linda Myren presiding. Betty Orric was organist and Janice Edson was vocalist. Hymn selections included "The Old Rugged Cross", "In the Garden" and "On Eagle's Wings".
Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery, Nashua, with Randy Miller, Lynn Idler, Dave Crandall, Larry Crooks, Jim Link and Rick Rosenbaum as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers were Louie Link, Charlie Crooks, Albert Herzog and Gordon Herzog.
Clark was born Jan. 9, 1916 in Charles City, the son of Loyal and Mabel (Slack) Bigelow. He attended country school through the eighth grade. On Nov. 26, 1950 he was united in marriage with Estella Shaw at he Little Brown Church near Nashua. The couple lived on a farm in Chickasaw for nine years then moved to the farm west of Ionia. Clark raised beef cattle and was a DeKalb seed com salesman for a number of years. He retired from actively farming in 1977. After his wife's death, Clark remained on the farm until a decline in health caused him to enter the nursing home in 1996. He enjoyed playing cards with neighborhood fnends;
Surviving are his (laughter, Bonnie (Bob) Lore, rural Ionia; a stepdaughter, Phyllis Peak, Ventura, CA; one granddaughter, Michelle Mahlstedt, Ionia; one great-grandson, William Mahlstedt; one sister, Darlene (Kenneth) Idler, Ionia.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Stella on April 29, 1992; his parents; a brother, Ted; two sisters, Margaret Bigelow and Mildred Bigelow.
