FREDERICKSBURG - Walter W. Beier, 86, Fredericksburg, died Monday, July 3 at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton of natural causes.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 7 at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church/ Richfield, rural Sumner.

Visitation was Thursday, July 6 from 4-8 p.m. at Chenoweth & Son Funeral Home in Fredericksburg and also an hour prior to services at the church.
Walter William Beier was born in New Hampton Township, Chickasaw County, Iowa, the son of Emil and Maria (Schmidt) Beier. He married Alice Njus on Sept. 9, 1940.

Walter farmed and worked as a carpenter.

Surviving are his wife, Alice, Fredericksburg; a son, Alan Beier, Fredericksburg; a son-in-law, Leroy Sheffler, LaPorte City; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lucille Shortly, Kansas City, MO, Marguerite Williams, Delhi; a brother, Elmer Beier, Colorado.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a daughter, Julie Helane Sheffler in 1999; two sisters, Verna Brown and Mable Jens; three brothers, Clifford, Roy and Herbert Beier.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
