NEW HAMPTON, IOWA - Irma M. Althof, 79, New Hampton, died of an apparent heart attack Saturday, June 10 at Mercy Medical Center, Mason City.
Funeral Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 14 at Trinity Lutheran Church, New Hampton with Reverend Carol Christenson presiding. Edith Kolthoff will be organist and accompany the congregation in song.
Interment will be in New Hampton Cemetery with Alex, Andrew, Allan and Louis Althof , Chris Anderson and Jim Stapleton serving as casket bearers.
Visitation will be two hours prior to service time at the church on Wednesday, June 14. Conway Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Irma was born September 8, 1920, at New Hampton, the daughter of John and Sophia (Weise) Stiefel. She attended New Hampton High School and was married to Alva O. Althoff Dec. 25, 1941 at the Little Brown Church near Nashua. Following their marriage, they lived for a short time in New Hampton before moving to Marquette where they raised their family. They later moved to Alta Vista where they resided until moving back to New Hampton.
Survivors include two sons, Allan (Karen), Guttenberg and Louis (Emily), Mason City; three daughters, Karen (Gary) Anderson, Lakota, Sonja Kellogg, Wisconsin, Joann (Lee) Warner, Marshalltown; 11 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one sister, Bernice (Blondie) Hammond, Elma.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Alva in 1986, infant twin daughters: Mary Lou and Margaret Lee Althof, six brothers: Albert, Walter, George, John, Rudy and Henry Stiefel.
