CHARLES CITY - Mattie I. Anderson, 87, Charles City and formerly of Lawler and Ionia, died Tuesday, Jan. 11 at the Ninth Street Chautauqua Guest Home of natural causes.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14 at the Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, Charles City. Rev. Dennis D. Niezwaag, Senior Pastor of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Charles City, will officiate.

Burial will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake.

Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13 at the funeral home and will continue from 9 a.m. until service time on Friday.

Mattie Irene Young was born March 3, 1912 in Benson, MN, the daughter of William and Nettie (McGinnis) Young. She moved to Clear Lake with her family as a young girl. On Aug. 31, 1929, she was united in marriage with Raymond Orville Anderson in Clear Lake. The couple made their home in Clear Lake until 1943, when they moved to Ionia, then moved to Lawler before settling in Nora Springs. Mrs. Anderson moved to Charles City to be near her husband as he resided in a Charles City nursing home. She was a longtime cook at the Nora Springs Community School. Later Mattie was a cook at a nursing home in Nora Springs. She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Nora Springs, where she was a member of the WELCA and quilting group.

Surviving are three sons, William (Ann) Anderson, Las Vegas, NV, Roger Anderson, Lawler, Michael (Louise) Anderson, Jacksonville, FL; one daughter, Colleen (Ray) Koebrick, Charles City; eight grandchildren; eight great¬grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Raymond on April 5, 1993; eight brothers, Larry, Harold, John, Virgil and Byron (Buck) Young; three sisters, Juanita Morgan, Hazel Massey and Winifred Waychus, two daughters-in-law Gladys Anderson and Grace Anderson.
