NEW HAMPTON -- Shirley Mary Holzer, 78, of New Hampton, died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2005, at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester, Minn.

She was born March 16, 1927, in New Hampton, daughter of John and Margaret Gebel Zubrod. She married Melbert "Swede" Holzer June 17, 1950, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Charles City. He died April 15, 2005.

She graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School, North Washington, in 1944 and attended beauty school in Des Moines. She worked as a beautician in Charles City and Waverly, and she also worked at the former Rogers Famous Foods, Fliger Bakery and Liddles Super Value Bakery.

Survived by two sons, Steven (Susan) of Springfield, Ill., and James of Naperville, Ill.; two daughters, Karla (Jim) Parks of Brooklyn Park, Minn., and Karen (Stephen) McKibbin of Pompano Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren; three brothers, Veryl (Alice) Zubrod of Cresco, Donald (Deanna) Zubrod of Cleghorn and Reynold Zubrod of Omaha, Neb.; and three sisters, Anna Marie Marvin of Nashua, Lorraine Schmitt of Wetgate and Dolores Schatz of Cresco.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Parish, St. Mary's Center, New Hampton, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, Charles City. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hugeback and Chenoweth Funeral Home, New Hampton, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and a 6 p.m. Scripture service and video tribute.
