NEW HAMPTON - Gerald Walter "Bud" Denner, 82, of New Hampton, died Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at his home.

He was born Dec. 24, 1924, at the family farm home, rural New Hampton, son of Joseph and Lillian Burgart Denner. He married Dorothy Shekleton on Nov. 10, 1948, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Lawler.

He received his education at New Hampton High School. He farmed with his father and also was employed at Oliver Tractor Works, Charles City, from 1946-1948.

Mr. Denner and his wife engaged in farming the Denner farm. After retirement he was employed for several years by Dennis and Duane Boos in their farming operation.

Survived by his wife; two sons, Robert (Roxanne) of Fremont and Richard of New Hampton; three daughters, Barbara Cosgrove of Indianola, Dolores (Lynn) Boeding of New Hampton and Lori (John) Klostermann of Ottumwa; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; a step-great-grandchild; a brother, Charles (Elaine) of New Hampton; three sisters, Delores (Ernie) Picker of St. Peters, Mo., Marion (Bob) Frohn of Cedar Falls and Bonnie (Lynn) Hassman of Altoona; and a sister-in-law, Betty Denner of New Hampton.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Lavern and James; two sisters, Marcella Swestka and Josephine Dostal; and two brothers-in-law, John Swestka and Stanley Dostal.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Parish-St. Mary's Center, New Hampton, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home, New Hampton, where there will be a 7:30 p.m. Scripture service. Visitation also 8 to 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
