FREDERICKSBURG - Elmer C. Volker, 92, of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, June 28, 2007, at the New Hampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born Feb. 19, 1915, on the family farm in Bremer County, son of Albert and Clara Meyer Volker. He married Betty Quandt on June 10, 1947, at Grace Lutheran Church, Fayette.

The couple farmed in the Sumner area until the 1970s and then continued farming in the Fredericksburg area until moving to town in 1978.

Survived by his wife; three sons, Robert (Pat) of Colorado Springs, Colo., Richard (JoAnn) of Rochester, Minn., and Mark (JoAnn) of Fredericksburg; two daughters, Becky Lingren of Glenwood and Carolyn (Duane) Mohlis of Tripoli; a daughter-in-law, Carol Volker of Sumner; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Norma Kuepker of Sumner and JoAnn (Don) Emmel of Huber Heights, Ohio; and a sister-in-law, Arlene Bassett of Hudson.

Preceded in death by a son, Delbert; a grandson; a sister, Leota Schmadeke; and a brother, Melvin.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, both in Fredericksburg. Public visitation from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home, Fredericksburg, and for an hour before services Monday at the church.
