PROTIVIN - Donald Joseph Sobolik, 68, of Cresco, formerly of Protivin, died Thursday, June 28, 2007, at Evans Memorial Home, Cresco.
He was born Nov. 20, 1938, in rural Cresco, son of William and Adeline Kacer Sobolik.
He graduated from Cresco High School in 1958 and worked for 30 years as a welder in Cedar Rapids for the Rapid Equipment Co. He retired at age 49 for health reasons.
Survived by two sons, Larry (Denise) of Boyceville, Wis., and Joseph of Fort Madison; a daughter, Lisa (Dave) Dana of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a brother, Melvin (Mardell) of Cresco; and three sisters, Wilma (Vince) Lensing of New Hampton, Jane (Paul) White of Des Moines and Elain (Tom) Tiedt-Koehler of Bloomington, Minn.
Preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Shirley Sobolik, in infancy.
Services: 2:30 p.m. Monday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Protivin, with burial in the church cemetery with military honors. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Hugeback's Protivin Funeral Home, where there will be a 4:30 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. Scripture service. Visitation also for an hour before services at the funeral home.
